If you are looking to build up and organize your texture-based material archives in ARTISAN, We've put together a quick step-by-step guide based on the documentation.

1. Preparing Your Textures
> Start by obtaining a set of high-resolution texture files.
> Ensure your files are "tileable" whenever possible. Because the texture file repeats across the surface, tileable images ensure the junctions between repeats remain invisible.
> Make sure your files are in one of the supported formats: jpg, bmp, tga, tif, or png.
> Keep track of the physical size of your texture sample in real-world units (like cm or inches). You will need this data to properly scale and repeat the texture over a large surface.

2. Applying and Editing in ARTISAN
> Open your model in ARTISAN.
> Navigate to the Material list and select the 'User Defined and Other' category.
> Apply the 'Texture' material to a part of your model. You will see a red grid appear, indicating it is a user-defined texture.
> Right-click the material on your model and select 'Edit Material'.

A quick note on naming and color: Don't worry about the material's name at first; it transfers over from the CAD system. Also, the 'Colour' field is disabled for standard Textures. If you have a set of textures that only vary by color, apply the 'Filtered Texture' material instead. This blends your chosen color with the image file, so it works best if you use a white version of the base texture.
> Click the 'Edit...' button to locate and select your texture file.
> Enter the real-world width and height dimensions of the image. The real-time view will update automatically to show the effect as you click or tab between the fields.
> Leave the other controls alone for now and click 'OK' to close the dialog.

3. Creating the Archive
> Right-click your newly configured material and select 'Add Material to Archive'.

> Choose a name for the material. If this is the very first material in your archive, click 'Create' to generate the new archive.
> To view your new archive, click the 'Star' icon located in the Material selector.

> You can store any number of materials and have any number of archives available under this Star icon.
> Pro-tip: You can also create user-defined materials by applying a standard ARTISAN material, editing it, and then saving it to an archive under a new name.

4. Exporting and Sharing Archives
> Archives can be easily exported and transferred to another ARTISAN user.
> Click the 'Export Archive' button (found under the Star icon) to pack all necessary data for those materials into a single file.
> To load an archive from someone else, simply use the 'Import...' option located in the Archive menu.

I am trying for the first time to fully render a 3D set of components. I can get a rendered image but when I try to save in Artisan it tells me to download Artisan 1.1.

I cannot seem to find that anywhere in the CMS downloads.

Can anyone of the experienced users advise please?

I am using version 13.1.512

Thank you in advance.

Richard.

I see it available for V14.1 but nothing under V13.1. Have you contacted CMS support directly?

Artisan for IntelliCAD 1.1 version is available at the v14.1 installers folder on our website.

This is really handy. I’ve always found it a bit of a pain keeping custom textures organized, so having them saved in archives makes a lot of sense.
