Opening file defaults to .dwt - drawing

I've set my "Save" file to default to the Autocad 2000 format. When I go to open a new file, the open file dialog box defaults to a "template" .dwt format instead of a .dwg format. This happens when I go to open any other file. When I change the default file "Saving" feature back to the Autocad 2004 format, opening drawings defaults back to the .dwg format. Anybody else have this problem, or am I missing something?

Yep, annoying, isn't it? It would do that until I changed the default template to a dwg instead of a dwt. After the change, all new files opened as dwg. I then decided to switch again to find out if that really was the cause. Back to dwt again and this time, it stayed that way no matter the settings. Until tonight. Reading your messsage, I oppened Icad to check and it again looks for dwg. Hope it stays this time.

Thanks CW. After making the first post I tried the same thing and it changed to dwg. Just annoying.
