Hi All

I'm considering making the switch from AutoCAD to IntelliCAD.

Two things I miss so far in evaluating the program are

1 - the layout / model space / paperspace thing that AutoCAD has. I know IntelliCAD does cover this, but unless I'm missing something it is a lot less intuitive.

2 - Editing Blocks - in ACAD if I want to edit a block (add / change lines etc) I can simply doubleclick it. I miss that.

Is there a question in here somewhere?

Well, recently in ICAD 4 you can open a DWG with several PS layouts. It doesn't show you the page yet, but you can switch between then and plot. This is a big step. I hope that little by little the distances will get closer.

And blocks, well, can be edited the old way, insert, get insertion point, explode, edit and define again.

ICAD is constantly evolving, and sure will get those features in the future.

Icad had MDI and context-sensitive mouse-menus (if that's the correct name) long before Acad. Acad seems to have got further away from a common dwg file format than Icad has. There will be other differences and areas where Acad wins and has improved, but since Icad began as a nicer program and is still comparable, I would be waiting for value for money to be on the same planet to even think about Acad again.
