I'm working with map (GIS) data created by our city engineering group to create maps for Public Safety (Fire Department) use. There is some infomation we'd like to update and submit back to the engineers. Is there a means by which I can update a layer, export only that layer, and then have the engineering group import that layer into the original .DWG?

Yes you can do that in ICAD by:

1/ Turn off all the layers other than the one you are working on.

2/ Copy the entities and paste these into a new drawing.

3/ Get the engineering group to turn off all the layers leaving the one to be updated.

4/ Delete the entities on that layer.

5/ Copy the entities from your new drawing into the engineering group's drawing.

6/ Turn on all the layers.

This exports each layer into a new drawing and can be altered to export only one layer and import only one layer.
