Hello,

I have a drawing with two 3D cylinders. I want to highlight one of them by either rendering the surface of only one of them, or changing the lines to a dash line. Can someone tell me how to do this?

canreef,

It is easy when you know how - but dificult to explain.

So here goes!

What you need is paperspace with two viewports. To select paperspace double click on the name "Tile" located on the lower right task bar OR select view-->workspaces from the pull down menu. Select "Paper Space (Tilemode Off)".

Repeat above then select "Create Viewport" and draw a rectangle. Repeat to draw two rectangles in paper space.

Recall the dialog again and select "Model Space with floating viewports (Tilemode Off)"

Select zoom in each viewport to view the cylinders - you can select each view as you need by just clicking inside the rectangle.

Render the cylinder in one viewport then select the other viewport, select the cylinder and right click to display properties dialog box - select "Linetype" pull down box and select the linetype you want ie Dashed then selcet and "Entity Linetype Scale" to set the dash spacings.

Good Luck - The first tims is the hardest!
