Image or Slide support

I've been out of the loop for a while and I know this subject has come up from time to time. I'm just wondering what the current status of Image or Slide support is. I know that there was a program from Visio that worked in Version 98. Is it possible in 2000 and 2001, and if it is could someone tell me how it works
