Profiles after Upgrade?
#1I have not been able to export a profile from an older version to the newest version. Each version can export and then import, but not from the older to the newer. Any input or information would be welcome.

I have just loaded my new version and this is what I have discovered:
I created a profile in ICAD V6.3 and exported this into a .arg file.
Using a text editor (Notepad) it was clear that this is a registry formatted file that can be update the ICAD registry settings to suit this profile.
After installing the ICAD V6.4 I again opened the profile .arg file and used Edit-->Replace from Notepad's pull-down menu to:
Find 6.3 PE+ Replace with 6.4 PE+
(I used the PE+ to ensure that any numbers such as 6.4 were not replaced as these may be critical to a menu or the registry). You may have PE if you are not using the full version so you need to look at the first few lines in notepad to determine the correct portion of text to replace.
I saved this and then imported the file into ICAD V6.4 profile and it was accepted.
I set the newly updated profile to the default and all was ok.
While this worked OK here is the downside of doing this:
I have ICAD V6.3 menus installed in ICAD V6.4 and any new commands in V6.4 within the toolbars/menus will not be visible unless I switch back to the original profile. If you carried this on for a few version then you could be missing out on some very useful commands.
I was altering the Registry with this upload and while this is a reasonably save exercise; any corruption to the file could render my Registry inoperable so it is better to backup the Registry before you attempt this.
(I always have a backup copy handy in any case).
You can export toolbars from the Tools-->Customise-->Toolbars form and then import these to the new version and I would recommend this as the best way to ensure you have the latest commands.
