AutoCAD dataset with database linkages

I tried going thru AutoCAD help, but could not link external database attributes to a dwg file. My task is to read such data using ODT and hence I am trying to create the data first. Can someone help me out by sending such datasets with external database linkages or with some useful links abt doing the same.
