CAD Software Forum

I would love to free our company from the AutoCAD grip of death ($$). I believe that ITC is a group of companies that take the Intellicad source code and throw in there own bells and whistles. Is there a "standard" version of Intellicad that is pre-bells and whistles? Or do we actually purchase Icad from Cadopia, Bricscad, etc. And if that's the case, How do I know where these members of ITC will be in a year or 5? Looking for future reliability.

The ITC is the licensee and holder of the IntelliCAD source code.

It promotes and upgrades the code through a group of international businesses that compile the source code into their own version of IntelliCAD and sell this to the public.

Any improvements that the international businesses make are then referred back to the ITC to improve the source code.

To provide product differentiation the international businesses also add additional software to this base product.
