i cannot trim a spline.what is the command?

I do not believe that splines can be trimmed.

One is supposed to be able to extend to splines, however, I have not been able to do this either.

I ran into this yesterday. No, splines can not be trimed. My solution was to go back to using Turbocad.

Spline-fit polylines can be trimmed.

avaernes is correct, you can use a spline-fit polyline. However, these are not true splines, you have to change the number of points for curved sections to approximate the curve.

True ellipses are similar in nature. They can be trimmed, however, they cannot be used as the extend to boundary.
