The boundary hatch has a boundary around it that will automatically fill with the hatch if altered in any way.
A hatch will not change if the original boundary is altered.
Check this out by drawing a closed rectangle and fill with a boundary hatch. Delete the closed rectangle and select the boundary hatch. Select a handle on one of the corners and move it – notice the hatch change automatically.
