How do you hide 3d wireframe lines in a paperspace viewport so that they print hidden?

This is one of the problems in ICAD - you can't directly print out 3D images with their lines hidden in either model or paper space.

This is a big problem for IntelliCAD as for me this could finish me using the software. The drawings are useless for manufacturing too, if printed in wireframe! This is limiting IntelliCAD to the hobby enthusiasts market when, with a little improvement, it could be used by manufacturing design engineers. Is there not a plug-in that would solve this?

A hidden line veiw would be virtually useless for manufacturing too. You need a real print to make a real part, not a picture. That is Intellicad's strength, 2D prints. Design engineers, if they chose to use Intellicad or Autocad, would do so to use it's 2D capability. If 3D is what one needs for their work, there are far better applications out there. Autodesk makes one, Inventor. There are many others. I would much rather see the developers put their efforts into improving the 2D aspects of the program. Tracking would be one such improvement.

I have also been creating fully dimensioned views of the 3D solid model in paperspace using different layers depending on the view and what details are required in each view. The 3D model has been very successful but each paperspace view still requires a hide lines print option to complete its 3D functionality. 3D is the future. 2D is dying and if you don't keep up then you will be left behind. At my company all the mechanical design is solid modelled in Solid Edge. I do the electrical design but I am now required to solid model all my equipment layout drawings. If IntelliCAD can’t keep up then it will have to be replaced. 2D for my company is now classified as an inefficient way of drawing and we have no use for it. We are now saving something like £30,000 a year on technical illustrations which we now do in-house from our 3D design drawings instead of paying a subcontractor to draw them. It is really disapointing that this forum entry has been running for years. Come on IntelliCAD ... if you want a future in 3D then you need to sort this one out!

I just beat my way through a 3D assembly drawing in multiple paper space viewports. Apparently, 6.2 still fails to allow hiding lines and printing. Apparently, one must dimension each respective view (top, front, side, oblique, etc with each layer's dimensions only visible from within that respective viewport. As far as I can see, hiding lines still fails to yield anything printable. Is the consortium fixing this with the newest release (just asking since we are due to either purchase this again or NOT)? CMS, please let us all know.

In version 6.3 and 6.4 you select View-Rendering-Hide from the pull-down menu and select print as per the usual method.

This prints using hidden lines.

There is a new version of IntelliCAD being worked on where it will be a complete re-write of the software to solve deep-seated code problems and allow better future development.

This is currently in alpha stage and is due for release later this year.
