Hi everybody,

I tried to open a dwg file, generated by ACAD,
and IntelliCAD showed me in the preview-window the image of the file, but it couldn't open it, the program got frozen.
Has anybody an idea what might be wrong?
By the way, I've got the newest version.

Try to use the 'recover' command (in File). I haven't run into this particular problem, myself.

Thanks, I've tried it - but after a short time of working the machine stops and takes time off. The file is not that big afterall, 1.7MB.

I often have that with Acad files, sometimes I can cut and paste them into a new file, sometimes Delete-All-Remove-(window around everything visible), sometimes open in Turbocad then saveas xxx.dwg. Sometimes it's solids, sometimes multilines, maybe TTF's, proxy entities... eventually they settle down and work properly but they are a real pain. Exploding everything explodable usually helps but in the meantime they are liable to crashing or becoming not save-able.

I have had the same problem. I use an earlier version of iCad to convert the drawings to Acad 14 format, then I can import them into the CMS iCad.

If you own Acad (here in South Africa you can buy a reasonable second-hand car for the price of Acad), try saving the drawing in Acad V11 or even V9 (avoid V13 like the plague). V11 seems to be the version that most other Cad packages can read without any problems. Also, remember to purge and if possible, explode the blocks.

I have just sent an example drawing to the CMS technical team as they have indicated that a new build should be available in about 2 months time. Maybe this glitch can be ironed out!
