David, Your explanation looks great and makes alot of sense. AutoCAD does indeed have a few system variables that can use the sum of numbers assigned to achieve multiple settings. Just passing along some information... In my last meeting I was informed that the next update from the ITC will include Complex Linetypes and XRef clipping.
