For mechanical engineering drawing, a number of dimstyles have to be used. They are ridgidly difined and have meaning. If I didn't have them in a template, I would have to set them up each time. Bringing those dimstyles into a drawing is quite easy. Draw some dimensions with the dimstyles you want t...

What I do is to set up a template with the dim styles, layers, ect that I generaly use and save it. You can save as many as you want set up for different purposes. That way, there is rarely a need to start from scratch and have to go through all the settings.

There is nothing at all difficult about paperspace once you get used to it. That said, I find little use for it in this program. I do use it extensivly in another program for laying out 2D prints from 3D models but Icad is not capable of that. As for scaling the drawing, why? If it is to fit is on a...

Do one of the following: Choose Settings > Dimension Settings. On the Settings toolbar, click the Dimension Settings tool (). Type setdim and then press Enter. In the Dimension Settings dialog box, click New. Type the name of the new dimension style. Click Create. In the Dimension Settings dialog bo...

As davep said, there is no way to lock them but I honestly can't see the need. Once they are set, change back to paperspace and you can't change them. What would be the point of changing to floating model space if you didn't want to change the view?

Use multiline text. Set your font and size there. It's just as easy to set a style in Explorer. Name, height and font are all you have to put in. One more item than you would if you set it in the multiline text box. The program is set up for people that do this all day, every day and have to maintai...

I just checked. Same on mine. I generally don't use enough tool bars to notice so if no one had brought it up, I would have never known.

Yep, annoying, isn't it? It would do that until I changed the default template to a dwg instead of a dwt. After the change, all new files opened as dwg. I then decided to switch again to find out if that really was the cause. Back to dwt again and this time, it stayed that way no matter the settings...

That version, 6.0.12.1, is what I have. There have been no updates that I know of. It's hard to tell though as few, if any, on this forum will ever say and they do not post that information on the site (though they claim they do). Any updates that are available are anounced by email. One never knows...

Thanks for the clarification John. I didn't know what to think. I agree that there are other more pressing issues but if they do get around to adding a spell check, I won't complain.
