We've performed several tests with v7.2 over windows 7 64bit machines. We cannot reproduce the issue.
Update to the latest v7.2 build is recommended.

Please update to the latest v7.2.4141 build. Uninstall your current v7.2 and install the latest one.

With CMS IntelliCAD 7.2, use boundary polyline command to pick an inner point, then a closed polyline should be created. At that point just use AREA command and select ENTITY to retrieve the boundary polyline area and perimeter (that's also available).

Graphics Card

Because you use Windows XP, we advise you to update your graphics card driver because IntelliCAD 7.x now uses the OpenGL engine. That technical requirement also depends on the graphics card manufacturer.
Also make sure to have Microsoft .Net Framework 3.5 and Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 Redistributable.
