Re: 3D Filletting

Hi All.....well well well...... thanks to the various inputs from Sin8458 & Spirou4D and having tried countless times I have finally produced something like the intended 3D drawing that is a solid object and will save as an STL file. I think my problem (apart from lack of practice with CMS intel...

Re: 3D Filletting

Hi Steve, many thanks for your kind offer which I may take up later but sometimes to learn one has to go through the pain first so I will stick with it a bit and try various "means" to get the drawing to work. Remember, if draughting was easy....everyone would do it. I learnt the old fashi...

Re: 3D Filletting

Hi Steve, thanks for the .stl image. I was finding that once I had completed, say, hub, 1 spoke and the rim that if I tried to combine them as two solids into 1 they would never join. So will have more of a play. I found it easyto do in autocad and created several complex 3D images with little probl...

Re: 3D Filletting

Hi, I am in Leicestershire. You are correct it is a train wheel for a large scale model. I am trying to produce a 3D image that can be sent to a laser printer to produce a pattern for white metal casting. Does the model you created end up as 1 single solid that could go do a 3D printer as a.stl file...

Re: 3D Filletting

Hi Steven, thanks for this. It is a bit heavy going (which is a positive as there is a lot going on) but I will view it again after tea. What is the purpose of the 3D box solid?

Speak soon. Thanks again

Richard

Re: 3D Filletting

Hi, EXACTLY like that .......so..... 1) Is that now a one piece solid? ie could it be converted to an .stl file for 3D printing? 2) HOW THE Fiddly deee.... did you do it.....I have been at it all day and still can only get a maximum of 2 spokes to fillet at the hub. If I try to mirror the solid (ie ...

Re: 3D Filletting

hi Patrick, I will attach a 2D of what I am trying to draw in 3D. so you get the idea. I have tried to draw a 1/4 section and copy and join but either you cannot join OR if you do it will not fillet.

Re: 3D Filletting

This particular subject is now getting my blood boiling lol. This morning I have tried to draw a new bersion of what I did yesterday and create the fillets and what do you know.....NOTHING. I have done exactly the same exercise as thevideo I posted and no fillets can be drawn. I have not knowingly a...

Re: 3D Filletting

To both Steven and Patrick, thank you both for your valuable inputs and I am glad I was at least able to help a little.

This forum has helped me several times and it is good to put something, however small, back for others.

Stay safe and once again thanks
S.

Re: 3D Filletting

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YFKWjR4Mu9I You will see that after a couple of deliberate failed attempts to fillet I altered to orientation of the UCS and that allowed me to do the final fillet. Hope this helps. What did you mean "Your replys are blocked?" was it something I did that cau...
